Former President Donald Trump claimed that the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, has already dropped his investigation into the hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Speaking to reporters on his plane after a rally in Waco, Texas, Trump called the case “fake” and claimed that some cases have “absolutely nothing.” However, earlier in the day, Bragg referred to the case as an “ongoing matter.”
Trump has been railing against the investigation on his Truth Social platform, claiming that the DA has no case and suggesting that the Department of Justice was running the local prosecution. As the DA’s grand jury is set to meet on Monday, Trump’s posts indicate that he is still very focused on the case.
At the rally, Trump also bashed Bragg and insulted Daniels, who claims she was paid off to keep quiet about her affair with Trump. Earlier in the week, Trump had tweeted that he himself would be arrested, but this claim has not materialized.
The investigation into the hush money payment has been ongoing since 2018 and has been a thorn in Trump’s side for years. While Trump maintains his innocence, the case has led to numerous legal battles and has been a source of controversy throughout his presidency. With the DA’s grand jury set to meet, it remains to be seen what the next steps in the investigation will be.
