Michael Cohen Warns Lawyers Not to Represent Donald Trump in Legal Battles
As legal troubles continue to pile up for former US President Donald Trump, his longtime fixer and lawyer Michael Cohen has a stern warning for attorneys considering representing him: “Run.”
Cohen, who spent over a decade as Trump’s attorney, made this recommendation on Friday during an appearance on MSNBC. Trump is reportedly facing imminent charges over a hush-money payment made to adult actress Stormy Daniels, who was alleged to have had an affair with the former president. Cohen himself was convicted and sent to prison over the payment.
“The smartest thing that a lawyer could do, if Donald Trump asks you to represent him in this nightmare that he is going to be living: run,” Cohen said. “Run as fast as you can. And don’t run to Florida and especially not Palm Beach.”
Cohen believes that Trump has always avoided taking accountability and has thrown those around him under the bus. He criticized the revolving door of lawyers Trump has worked with and called it a “clown show.”
The recent antics of Trump’s new lawyer Joe Tacopina only added to the spectacle. A video of Tacopina trying to grab a piece of paper from MSNBC’s Ari Melber during an interview went viral. Cohen found the entire situation to be a joke.
“MAGA’, really stands for “make attorneys get attorneys,” and sadly that’s really the truth,” he said, referring to the acronym for Trump’s infamous “Make America Great Again” slogan.
As more legal challenges mount against him, Trump is expected to continue to hire attorneys to represent him. Cohen’s advice to them remains the same: don’t do it.
