“Fashion is not throwing a logo on a tee shirt, hoodie, or a hat, that’s simply graphic design, there’s minimal innovation with that.”
Fashion Designer, Ty Brueilly
A bold statement from Asheboro, North Carolina area Fashion Designer, Ty Brueilly, who has been consistently designing a very unique, often times daring and extremely popular form of fashion with his wife, Megan Brueilly, for ten years, and a statement we also agree with one hundred percent.
Ty recalls, “We started this journey of creating clothing the same year as our marriage, back in 2015. At that point, I didn’t really consider what we were doing fashion, because it all began with women’s tank tops and leggings. We took a chance and made a few dozen pieces with four different designs, and sold out the first two local area arts and craft shows, then expanded to luxury dresses, jumpsuits, rompers, and much more.”
These shows Brueilly mentions were the Lark Artist Handmade Holiday art shows, that took place in the heart of his hometown, Asheboro, NC.
“I remember that incredible yet anxious feeling of Megan and me setting up, taking a chance. Being highly experienced in other areas of arts and entertainment, like music & photography, this was the first time her and I worked together on something, and it paid off immediately, which had never happened in any of those other endeavors of mine,” Ty says.
Tyler “Ty Bru” Brueilly began his professional musical career in late 1999, and by early 2000, he was deejaying fraternity parties at Appalachian State University in the beginnings of what would become a 25-year hip hop profession.
Upon graduation from Appalachian in 2005, he founded Mightier Than The Sword Records and now in 2025 he is celebrating 20 years of MTTS, which has evolved into an internationally recognized entity of filmmaking, photography, fashion and even providing the first ever film festival of any kind in his hometown of Asheboro, NC, now going on it’s third year. In 2025, Ty is focusing on monthly events and much more; however, his love for fashion came before the creation of MTTS, whether he realized it in the moment or not.

He details such with, “Thanksgiving of 2003 would be a defining moment in my life, one that I didn’t realize would hold so much impact until I got full swing into fashion myself. This was my first ever international trip. It was to Milan, Italy. I was fascinated with the fact that some people really close to me at the time were submerged and successful in the fashion world there as models. When I arrived and met back up with Amber (Little), she really introduced me to this world and scene and I was mesmerized immediately. I was super ignorant. I didn’t really comprehend that Milan was coined the fashion capital of the world. Still, here I was, this naive 23 year old up and coming rapper in this gorgeous city full of rich history with some really amazing people, soaking up every beautiful moment, I still keep in touch with both Amber who now has sons around the same age as mine, and Ildiko J. Kiss, who recently published a book, and I cheerlead them both constantly and love them always. I never really got to thank Lauren (Hunt) for linking me up with Amber in the first place, but if it wasn’t for her and connecting us, my trajectory would have been a way different story, and in hindsight, really that was when my love for fashion began.”
Going into his tenth year of designing, Brueilly has designed nearly 200 articles of men’s, women’s, and unisex articles of clothing, consistently hosting monthly events to showcase them and held two large scale fashion shows in 2022 & 2023 in collaboration with The Exchange in Asheboro, with Brea Sharron Estep in 2023, as the guest of honor, who was the active Mrs. In the United States at the time, it was a highlight and a full-circle moment for Brueilly and his line.
“I’ve known Brea for about 15 years, we always encouraged and pushed each other to do the impossible, so I was beyond thrilled to get her involved, watching her continually excel was and still is a catalyst for me personally. When it came time for the show, I was working with a ton of our area’s youth, and being able to connect Mrs. United States to them was a perfect touch, and she totally slayed the runway in my designs too.” Brueilly said, then continued, “Those two all-out fashion shows we did at The Exchange were a critical component in reaching the vision I had for the brand, thanks to working with Emma & Brandon Couden, along with many Asheboro area businesses. It truly showcased the beauty, potential and wide scope of what I was creating, it was also the moments when I knew Asheboro still wasn’t quite ready for what I provide, as well as realizing I was moving a little too fast and didn’t really get a grasp on how to properly stock and market each of these 200 articles, so we took a little time to sit back and analyze, only to come back in 2025 full force.”

Ty & Megan Brueilly have been holding monthly “First Friday Fashion & Photography” events at Studio 601 Photography & Art Gallery in Randleman for 2025, a component of Ty’s “20 Years Of MTTS” campaign.
“Working with Josh Pugh at Studio 601 for these Friday events has been a really awesome journey. He is a much better photographer than I am, in my opinion, and has a knack for quick chemistry with clients and models. Our thing is to offer these mini photography sessions for people who come and try on the clothes and buy something. It helps people see the clothes, to feel the unique fabric I use, see the vibrant colors, and what they look like on themselves! I’ve found how important that is to this whole process. Online sales are always low, but once these articles of clothing are seen with your own eyes, you can’t really tell how strikingly beautiful they are. So take this opportunity to join us for our next First Friday Fashion & Photography in August.”
We have to say, just from what we see online, Brueilly’s designs are something totally different than anything you would see. We are hoping to get our hands on something soon so that we can see it with our own eyes. We encourage you to do the same!
